Instead of bright colored walls and happy children playing on the premises, a depressing scene confronts the beholder in the Bara'em Kindergarten’s once upon a time buildings.
Sadly today, the buildings are left to the wind, and are all in dire need of rehabilitation and re-construction.
After the downfall of the despotic Saddam regime in 2003, the Kindergarten was taken over by a number of non-government entities, however, these groups soon evacuated the location.
The Maysan Center for Media Development has received many complaints from parents in Al Maymounah, asking for the Kindergarten to re-open its doors to receive their children.
A delegation from MCMD travelled to Al Maymounah, to find out more about the buildings and the kindergarten.
It was evident that the buildings were not suitable to accommodate any sort of activities because they needed to be rehabilitated and re-built in some parts.
We also found out that there were well over 100 children in the vicinity that badly needed a kindergarten, as they were spending their time on the streets or dirty dust areas around the location, thus being exposed to diseases.
All the buildings need to be re-built and rehabilitated as they are in an extremely severe condition.
Here in MCMD, we are extending our invitation to the Governor of Maysan and all other donor groups to help and assist in restoring this kindergarten
A picture speaks more than a thousand words says the proverb, and here we have published several pictures that tell the whole story.
